So today I and Joel decide to go ride mountain bikes. I’ve been stuck in the house all week writing code because I’m to
big of a wimp to go ride in the rain. He talks me into a ride from Latheom’s Hollow over into Millville canyon and back
to his place. He tells me that Google Earth says it’s only 8 miles.
Google Earth is a lying piece of shit.
It is Fall in Cache Valley and the journey lured us in with an idyllic scene of blazing red and yellow trees and and a
trail lightly layered with freshly fallen leaves. I was sure we were headed to Rivendell to meet the elves.
About a mile into the trail it was clear that the floor of the canyon is where the mountain decided to poop all its rocks
and our climb became more like an ascent into Mordor. The ‘trail’ wasn’t so much a trail as a rock slide interspersed with
the roots of all the possessed trees from the movie which continually tried to dump us off a 100 foot cliff.
